Ryan’s Answer

Hey Shana, my father has been a recording engineer for over 40 years and has worked on many films throughout his career. I grew up in the studio and watched him and his colleagues for many years. Here are a few jobs that I've seen over the years:

Composer: A composer is responsible for creating the original music score for a film. They work closely with the director and producer to create music that enhances the emotion and tone of the film.

Music Supervisor: A music supervisor is responsible for selecting and licensing music for a film. They work closely with the director and editor to find music that fits the scene and enhances the overall mood of the film.

Music Editor: A music editor is responsible for synchronizing the music with the film's visuals. They work with the composer and music supervisor to ensure that the music fits seamlessly with the scenes.

Sound Designer: A sound designer is responsible for creating and editing sound effects for a film. They work closely with the director and editor to create a soundscape that enhances the overall experience of the film.

Foley Artist: A Foley artist is responsible for creating sound effects that are recorded live on set or in a studio. They use a variety of props and equipment to create sounds that match the actions on screen.

Mixing Engineer: A mixing engineer is responsible for balancing and adjusting the levels of all the audio elements in a film, including music, dialogue, and sound effects. They work closely with the sound designer and composer to ensure that all the audio elements are blended together seamlessly.
