How busy or stressful is your job and how do you deal with stress?

i want to know this so i can prepare myself on anything, i'm already a pretty positive person but i need to train myself for this job im wanting to have in the future and make the best of it.

Thank you comment icon it all depends on the mindset you have and to always stay as calm and positive as possibly, if the job stressing you too much its possibly just not for you and that's always ok and to always be 100% committed. emily

Hi Emily! 😊 I totally get that work can be super stressful sometimes. Right now, I'm juggling 2 full-time positions because I'm covering for a co-worker on leave. Phew, it's been like this for 3 years! 🙈 Even though one job is temporary, I still have to be 100% committed to both.

One position gets particularly demanding in spurts while the other has me on my toes when outages strike, which can happen anytime. To recharge and stay energized, I make sure to take breaks and enjoy activities that help me relax. 🌼

Long walks, exercise, some "me-time" to unwind, unplugging from electronics, diving into good books, or even taking a vacay to refresh all help me stay productive. 💪

Why not find something you're passionate about outside of work and dive into that? This way, you can get a break from the daily grind and really indulge in your interests. 😃 Take care, and don't forget to make time for yourself!

Hi Emily, Working at hospitals, I’ve experienced real stress. And as a clinical engineer you need ways to cope with things like repairing critical equipment that fails during surgery. Many of my early jobs really stressed me out, but I found a solution: meditation. There are many types, and I suggest looking into Mindfulness techniques. There is a lot of scientific validation for this type. Or check out other types online. I became proficient at mantra-based methods to the point I became an instructor. The important thing is doing it daily. It’s amazing how its beneficial effects eventually begin to mellow you out throughout your toughest activities. Best of luck!

Hey Emily, it's fantastic to see how dedicated and driven you are towards achieving your best in your job/career! Your motivation sets a strong foundation for a successful future.

I understand that you're trying to be prepared for anything and everything, and that's an admirable quality. However, it's essential to remember that no one can be fully prepared for all the challenges that may come their way, especially in their work life. The key is not to be weighed down by this, but to use it as a reminder to remain adaptable and resilient.

Stress will indeed be a part of any career, but its impact varies depending on how you approach your work and life in general. As a sales manager who oversees salespeople in 9 different countries, I can tell you that stress doesn't have to define your work experience. When you're passionate about what you do, you can handle stressful situations with grace and effectiveness.

If you find yourself constantly stressed for an extended period, take it as an opportunity to reassess your situation—is this the right career for you? If not, remember that it doesn't mean you're failing; it simply means you haven't found your ideal path yet.

As you navigate your career journey, keep a rational mindset by asking yourself questions like:
- Why am I stressed?
- What is the specific situation that's causing me stress?
- Is this temporary, or is it a persistent issue?

Answering these questions will help you stay focused and effectively manage challenging situations. Above all, remember that work is a means to enrich your life, not the sole purpose of it.

Wishing you all the best in your future career, Emily! You've got this!

Warm regards,
Alessia

Hi Emily, I love your positive attitude and you wanting to be as prepared as possible. I'm the same way! That being said, I would say that stress is a part of any job and life in general. Every work environment comes with different challenges, coworkers, and workplaces. No place is perfect and even when everything is great, there will always be tough days.

What I've found helpful are the following to keep this positive attitude and stay grounded:

1. Remember your why, why are you in this career and what makes you want to do what you do? This is great to reflect on during those tough days.

2. Taking breaks and actually using the time off you're provided through work. Create signals or triggers for yourself for when you know you might be starting to burn out and get ahead of those with your vacations. Make sure you're in work environments that encourage this and you have supportive leadership around you.

3. Find things outside of work that make you happy and keep you positive. For example, I play sports like tennis and soccer. I also see my friends frequently and spend time with my family. In addition, I love to cook as I find it calming, especially on stressful days.

Hey Emily! You've asked such an amazing question! It's crucial to learn how to cope with stress, no matter what stage of life or career we're in. Allow me to share what I've experienced in my career, where I take inbound calls for 8 hours a day. It can get intense, as customers aren't always satisfied, and it's our job to turn that around.

But guess what? I've found ways to take care of myself by just pausing and taking a breather. I go for a walk and listen to my favorite tunes during my 15-minute breaks. My lunch hour transforms into an exciting dance workout that keeps me energized!

The best part is, when I leave the workplace, I let go of the stress and unwind. I dedicate my off days to indulge in activities that bring joy and a sense of accomplishment. For me, it's reading and candle making, but you can try various hobbies until you discover your passion!

Remember, it's all about finding the right balance and staying happy. Keep exploring and you'll surely discover your stress-busting techniques!

Hi Emily,

This is a great question. The way I deal with stress at my job is to make sure I am doing self-care. I make sure I take time to myself to do what I love such as shopping, spa day, traveling, and spending time with my Family. It is good to also have a support system and people you can communicate with that helps you stay level and helps to motivate you. Also taking walks, and listening to music helps with stress as well. Mental Health is very important and it is important not to allow the stress of a job/career impact your mental health. You have to create a work-life balance and find time for yourself!
