What is the hardest thing about working in psychology, especially related to mental health? What is the best/most rewarding part? Would you say it's worth it in your case?

Psychology and mental health have definitely piqued my interest as a possible career choice, but I'd like to hear more about the goods and bads.

This is a great question! I think the hardest part of working in a people focused helping career is the number of people that need our help. It can feel very overwhelming at times - like not enough hours in the day/week. Sometimes you want to solve a person's problem, but it's not our problem to solve and the person needs to do the work. The most rewarding part is when someone says to me "I feel so much better after talking with you.... I don't feel as anxious anymore... Thank You"! Knowing that what I said or did actually helped someone is so fulfilling to me.
When you are always helping others, you can feel very drained (emotionally and mentally) so it's really important that you embrace and practice self-care -- doing whatever brings happiness to your soul. For me, these include reading, watching meetings, knitting, hiking, etc.
