Hi Sasha!

Kudos to you for starting to consider future career choices.

To become a model, you need to follow these steps:

Decide on the type of modeling you want to pursue. There are various types of modeling such as fitness modeling, editorial or commercial modeling, parts modeling, and more. Each type requires different skills and looks.

Practice beforehand at home. You can watch videos of established professionals and study their movements and poses. Try posing in front of a full-length mirror and seek constructive criticism from others.

Get proper training. You can enroll in classes and courses to learn about the industry, improve your skills, and build your confidence.

Build your portfolio. Start by taking a headshot, a full-body shot, and (in some cases) a swimwear shot. You can hire a professional photographer or find an up-and-coming photographer on Instagram who may be willing to work fo reduced fees.

Hire an agent. Once you have built up enough experience, you can approach an agent about representation. Research which agencies represent models like you and what they want in a submission.

It’s important to note that modeling is a highly competitive industry that requires dedication and perseverance. You may also want to consider networking with people in the industry and signing up with agencies.

Good luck!

Hello, Sasha !

I would like to give you some advice that is very important for you to know about starting a modeling career at a young age. Not so much how to's, but advice that will be very important for you to know to have a good experience with it.

First and foremost, you didn't state how young you are, however if you are under 18, you absolutely must have a parent or dedicated adult oversee your entire journey with this. If you are 18 or older, you can go with it on your own. You will need transportation, a phone which you probably have, access to modeling agents and experience which comes in the form of training and your first actual performances and paid modeling gigs.

Modeling goes beyond having your photo taken for a magazine. The advertising world, television, commercials for TV or internet, live shows and projects, publishing houses, stock photo companies and trade shows, designers for runway shows and film projects all use models and you need to learn a bit about these industries too. It's not all glamorous, sometimes downright uncomfortable depending on the project. However, the final product is very satisfying and it will all depend on the type of work you obtain. Each job is different.

Lets say you already have your portfolio and a resume and you're ready to travel to "go sees". The people choosing the models will most times have an idea in mind of the type they want to hire. That doesn't mean that you're not acceptable, but their project just requires a certain look. Don't be discouraged. It's hard to tell sometimes exactly what they are looking for before hand. Be yourself, feel comfortable and offer your look and posture and grace at a go see. You will definitely get used to the routine and each time is a learning experience. Never pay any agency or project money to be in their project. If you get chosen for a job, you will get paid and you should never pay anyone except photographers or a modeling school for lessons. Your agent in the U.S. will take no more than 20% out of your pay from a modeling job, but that's basically it. I'm not sure about pageants, but I think there is a fee to be in them. Other than that, do not pay anyone for a job. Also, do not trust anyone who comes up to you in public out of the blue, hands you their card and says that they are a modeling agent and wants to take your photos. Run far away from them.

Stay in tune with the latest styles and different genres of styles in clothing, make up, hairstyles and jewelry and accessories. You will also need a wardrobe. You can research this on line for the basics you need or the modeling school will inform you of this.

There is a lot more to say, however I will end here and leave you with the fact that there is a wealth of information on the internet and it will be very important for an adult to be with you on this most often fun and always exciting journey towards modeling !
