What a fantastic question! Are you considering doing photography as a potential career path? I am not a photographer, but I am in the creative field where photography is vital for me to do my career. I would say the best way to start out taking photos and getting your work out into the world, is maybe to think about creating a social media page where you can post your photos. I would say you can research photographers in your area and ask if they would be willing to accept you to do an internship, while the subjects of the photos will most likely not be of nature or art, it is professional experience that you can add to your resume when going to other places to work.
If you are interested in working with a specific company as a photographer and focusing on nature as the subject, I would look into National Geographic. They have photographers that go around the world to take photos of nature that get published on their website and magazine.
As for other career paths for a photographer, I recommend you do a simple Google search with the phrase 'what career paths can a photographer do', and a bunch of results come up that you can also further research the ones that interest you the most.

Hi Madalynn, I'll start with; you live close to Rochester NY which is home to what's left of Kodak. Rochester Tech would be an excellent school for you to explore. I'll bet they have a lot of books on photography. Your town and school libraries could also be helpful. I strongly recommend a college education. If you pursue your passion, you are going to need an income while you become established and a degree can make finding a decent job a bit easier.
There are plenty of ways to earn money with a camera. However, making a living in the arts is difficult and requires patience and determination. If photography is your passion, it can be rewarding both as a vocation and a secondary form of income.
To begin, your are going to need a camera with interchangeable lens capability. You have to learn how to use it to capture images to show your abilities. Possibly, your school has a yearbook staff that you could work with. Possibly you can shoot school sports.
You will need to look at the work of established pros to see what their images look like. This gives you an idea of the quality of images you must produce.
