Doc’s Answer

Vega having the initiative and drive to compete will be an important element in navigating certain aspects of life, especially when it comes to career and education opportunities. The world is more connected now than ever so many us will be competing on a much more global stage than previous generations might have. Your generation needs to consider the fact that this will mean that you'll need to strive to compete with students not only from this country but globally also.

ADAPTABILITY
Navigating emerging technologies is something professionals will need to do in their daily lives. An example of this is how several companies use modern technology to further their global presence. This results in top-tier companies encouraging their employees to work remotely and take full advantage of the Digital Age. Working directly with an employee who lives in a different time zone could be just one of many adjustments your generation will experience in their regular work culture. Your generation will need to be able to adapt or the could be left behind.

COMMUNICATION
Good communication skills are important, both in person and online. Your generation is going to need to excel in these and every now and again this will include having to lead the conversation. As mentioned above, there might be special circumstances to navigate, as the key member of a team who live in a different location. This is only one of the many scenarios that might mean people will need to be multifaceted and learn how to communicate using new mediums. And with most workplaces using tools like Slack or Skype to communicate within their teams, written communication is a major point. Reading comprehension and writing skills have become crucial skills for the modern student and employee.

While competition is a normal part of achieving success in life, the world is more connected now than ever so many will be competing on a much more global stage than previous generations might have. You have to consider the fact that this will means inorder for you to strive to compete with students from United States along with several others. Having the initiative and drive to compete will be an important element in navigating certain aspects of life, especially when it comes to career and education opportunities.

Hope this has been helpful Vega

Ana’s Answer

Without delving deep into my individual objectives, I suggest formulating achievable targets, as well as aspirational ones.

It's crucial to establish achievable targets that you can gradually accomplish. This allows you to track your progress over time and set feasible benchmarks.

Aspirational targets, on the other hand, guide your long-term planning, potentially for the next 5 to 10 years.

I trust this advice will be beneficial to you.

Michelle’s Answer

Hello, Vega !

No matter what your long term goals are, you can achieve them ! I believe in what I call mini-goals which lead to large goals. Take for instance if one of your large goals is to be a College student. That would be a big goal. So how would you go about this through setting mini goals ? An example of some mini goals for this would be 1. Visit the college and learn about admission requirements. 2. Get access to an admissions application. 3. Complete and review the admissions application. 4. Send the application to the college. So you actually thought about this using four steps towards being a college student. You didn't overwhelm yourself by just focusing on the end result. This shows you that it takes time and you've practiced patience and completed your goal well informed and carefully.

Some important skills that should be developed for success in your chosen field should be given attention, so this is a very good question. My opinion is first and foremost, written and verbal and interpersonal communication. This is applicable in every career, every workplace and in your personal life as well. Another one would be the ability to regulate your emotions. The ability to not prejudge, over react or jump to conclusions is very helpful for any career. All careers pose instances in which there may be challenges, crisis or unresolved disagreements and we do ourselves a world of good if we can develop ways to handle these situations to make them turn out to be best for everyone involved. In my careers, it helped to pay attention to intuition. That comes with experience, but always being a step ahead of things, prepared, thinking about what happens next. This is useful in most fields of work. No one can guarantee you success or define success for you - that will be for you to define. But having a good balance between career and personal life will always be supportive for a satisfying life.

Jerome’s Answer

Great question! One of my goals is to speak at a conference or workshop in all 50 states. I put a map on my wall where I’m marking each state as I go.

I produce a podcast and post consistently about my goal and I do a lot of networking. So far I am at 12 states and counting. I spend a few hours each month applying to places looking for speaker and feel confident I’ll get there over time.

Margarita’s Answer

In my opinion, it is important to figure out where you see yourself long-term but be flexible. Would you prefer to stay in one place or willing to switch places of employment. Do you want to work for someone or considering your own business. Are you looking for potential growth in your career or pick career with not much professional growth. How loyal do you want to be in your chosen field. For example, with psychology courses you can choose a career as a social worker, or with additional education, you can go further and become psychologist.
In my career, I have been a clinician for the last 25 years. I have not considered to change that previously, However, with medicine being influenced by management and administration, I am now working on my degree in healthcare administration. I am planning to combine my clinical skills with administrative to evolve further in the changing medical field.
Try to organize yourself in your chosen filed and see what careers will fit the best with your chosen long-term goals.
