I'm not an artist, but I've watched my brother as he has made it his career. He has an art degree, which taught him many different techniques and helped him understand art from different perspectives. But since school, he's learned so much from doing...today, social media plays a big part, you can build a following and people that are interested in your art. He has built a lot of relationships with other artists and done a lot of collaborations, trying to connect with other artists may be a way you can explore it as a career more. Also, I think a unique point of view and a story is important - you are able to show how you see the world or comment on things that are important to you through your art.

You can definitely become an artist for the gaming industry. I would make sure to build up a portfolio of your current art and explore opportunities to shadow artists in the gaming field. I would also suggest aside from physical art, to explore avenues like Unity, Blender, etc to see if you might enjoy making 3-D art and the process behind making scenes. When I was in college, I thought I wanted to work for a videogame company as an artist, but after doing a course in Unity, I decided it wasnt something I like. However, you might find that you are passionate in these programs and it could be a great fit for you :)

Embarking on the path to becoming a proficient artist requires a blend of innate talent, consistent practice, continuous learning, and boundless creativity. Here are some strategies to enhance your artistic abilities:

Regular Practice: Just like any other skill, artistry improves with regular practice. Dedicate specific hours each day or week to hone your art. Consistent practice refines your techniques and amplifies your creative prowess.

Understanding the Basics: Familiarize yourself with the core principles of art, such as composition, color theory, perspective, and anatomy. A solid foundation in these basics paves the way for more sophisticated artistic expression.

Enroll in Art Classes: Think about joining art classes or workshops. Formal education offers structured learning and guidance from seasoned instructors. You can select courses that cater to your specific interests, like drawing, painting, sculpture, or digital art.

Experiment with Various Mediums: Dabble in different art mediums, such as pencils, charcoal, watercolors, acrylics, oils, or digital tools. Experimentation with diverse materials helps you identify what you enjoy and fosters a wider range of artistic expression.

Study and Analyze Art: Delve into the works of renowned artists, from historical figures to contemporary creators. Scrutinize their techniques, styles, and color usage. This can spark your own creativity and help you comprehend different art methodologies.

Welcome Feedback: Showcase your work to others and be receptive to constructive criticism. Input from peers or mentors can offer invaluable insights, assisting you in pinpointing areas for improvement and bolstering your confidence.

Cultivate a Unique Style: While learning from others is crucial, aim to cultivate your own artistic style. Experimenting with diverse techniques and subjects can help you uncover what personally resonates with you.

Set Targets: Set both immediate and long-term targets for your artistic growth. This could involve mastering a particular technique, finishing a series of artworks, or participating in an exhibition. Goals provide direction and motivation.

Maintain Inspiration: Immerse yourself in sources of inspiration. Visit museums, galleries, peruse books, and browse online platforms to discover a wide array of artistic styles and concepts. Stay inquisitive and open to fresh influences.

Exercise Patience: Progress in art takes time. Don't lose heart if you face obstacles or feel that your progress is sluggish. Celebrate minor victories and relish the process of learning and creating.

Network with Other Artists: Participate in art communities, both virtually and in-person, to connect with fellow artists. Networking can open doors for collaboration, learning, and exposure to different viewpoints.

Carry a Sketchbook: Always have a sketchbook handy to jot down ideas, observations, and quick sketches. A sketchbook serves as a mobile space for experimentation and a means to chronicle your artistic journey.

Remember, becoming a proficient artist is an ongoing journey of growth and self-exploration. Revel in the pleasure of creating, remain curious, and persist in your quest for artistic brilliance.
