What are some ways I can set myself up for a great future career wise??
I'm a current sophomore at the University of West Ga. I am a psych major with a minor in sociology. I was hoping I could get some advice about pursuing a masters degree in developmental psychology and what career options are possible. I also wanted to know if there were some things that I should do in order to have a great resume and a good chance at a great masters program.

You are on a very special academic path and I want to applaud you for following through with one of the steps toward your dream job ! Developmental psychology is a fantastic, most useful realm of psychology and I'd be real happy to share some advice with you for your resume before applying for a Masters Degree.
You are very fortunate because your college has a Career Services office on campus and that is a big plus ! Not only that, but your college prides itself with having a very rich events calendar. You surely have chosen a college with many opportunities while being an undergrad ! On February 2nd (which is coming up very soon) there will be the West Georgia Regional Science and Engineering Fair for Middle and High School students. Obtain more information to see if there will be any psychology offerings and if there's enough time, arrange to participate as a presenter. If this event is not including human science, see if there may be any other events that you can be a presenter for. This will be excellent for your resume.
On February 24th, there will be a wonderful event called Project Bright Minds Day of Service. This seems like it will be a very beneficial event for all. Find out more about this event and see how you can be involved as a participant presenter. On February 23rd, there will be a cool Zoom Biology seminar called Structure, Biogenesis, and Engineering of the Pyrenoid. Although this is a plant based science, you may want to consider this event if you're taking biology. Also look into any certifications that you can take related to your future field. You can look on line for these and being certified for first aid would be an asset on your resume and for your work.
The next time you apply for financial aid, you may want to check the Work Study box on the application. You will be able to obtain a part time job in the psychology department and that will look wonderful for your application to post graduate school. I found a wonderful article on a website for a personality school that suggests some interesting activities for college students studying Psychology. The article is at https://sanjeevdatta.com/personality-development-activities-for-college-students/ .Some of the activities seem fun and engaging and you can form a group or do these activities in conjunction with a class or have your professor suggest a forum for the different activities.
Keep in mind that a good GPA, consistent activity in extracurriculars and tenacity will get you into a Masters Program that you will really love and set you on your way for work as a professional Psychologist ! I wish you all the best on this fabulous journey !

My Bachelors Degree was in psychology and I loved it! Regarding ways you can build out your resume, join any clubs that the school offers that are connected to psychology. Look for opportunities to volunteer with local non-profits who have a focus that involves developmental psychology. Getting practical expertise, and being able to network with those within the industry could be beneficial. Internships can also be great.
Start building out your LinkedIn and add fellow students, professors and those you network with; your network is vital.
