Start with your school and see if there are any scholarships available from past Alumni. Check with local associations in the field you want to go into and see if they have scholarships available.
Many community colleges are free and you might consider doing 2 years as at a JC to radically save on education costs.

The first step in obtaining a scholarship would be to research all the resources and local, state, city and federal agencies that offer a chance for scholarships. Once you have your resources and the actual names and application information of the many scholarships that are out there, then you can apply and wait to know if you've been chosen for any of the scholarships you've applied for. You can also utilize the teachers and guidance counselor at your high school and your local Chamber of Commerce and Town Hall for any scholarships that may not be listed on the internet. The research for it is well worth it because you will need to apply for many in order to increase your chances of being selected for scholarships.
There are scholarships that you can apply for while you are a senior in high school and scholarships that are for when you are enrolled in college. When you read a listing of scholarships, it will provide you with all the details you need as far as your qualification, instructions on how to apply and the deadline for the application.
The Office of Student Financial Assistance through the Maryland Higher Education Commission in your state offers scholarships . I advise reading their entire website and consider going to their office for the in person assistance that they offer. I have left the link to their website below. I've also left some links to scholarships that you can read about. I know it can seem like a lot of reading so I would advise setting aside a particular time and days of the week to dedicate to doing scholarship "work" and even ask a friend or family member if they would join you in the venture.
