Medicine & Medical Foundation

How can students find some resources about medicine in the Medical Foundations in a High school that will help them be fully prepared for what Medical career they to take to be in a Medical field?

Hello Irene,

I agree. The medical field is vast. There are careers like nursing aids and nurses, pharmacist and pharm techs, physician assistants, doctors, respiratory therapist and the list goes on and on. I agree with Vihaan’s answer. The best way to explore if this is right for you is through exposure. The hospitals are always looking for volunteers and they work with high school students a lot. If you reach out to the volunteer office they should be able to help. If you don’t hear back right away, follow up. Everyone is a little short staffed right now. Once you are there ask people about their profession. Most people are happy to talk about it. I’m a doctor and love showing people what I do and why I chose my career.

As far as college searches go, you can’t really start that until you decide on what you would like to be. Come back after that and we would be happy to provide more advice about the college search.

Hello. I am not well versed in this field however I want to try to help since this is unanswered. You should take classes related to your field such as CNA which is a hands-on experience in the medical field if offered in your school. You should definitely network and talk to people to get more knowledge in the field. Try to see if you can volunteer or intern at a local hospital. This can help you see what it truly is like, and you would be able to decide what you want to do hopefully. Talk to upperclassmen and ask what they did. Good luck.
