The best college near you is one you can be successful in. Don't worry show much on how others rank the college, but instead rank it based on YOUR needs. Do you like a bigger or smaller campus? Does it have the degree and classes you are interested in? Are there other students like you, with similar grades, interests and backgrounds, that have enjoyed going there? Can you afford attending?
If you love the college you attend, get good grades, and end up with a degree from there, then it's the best college you could have chosen.

I really think there is no "best" college, it's more important to focus on which colleges are a good fit for you personally and what you are looking for. There are likely many different colleges that would be a strong fit for you!

There are so many colleges out there that it is hard to say what is the best college. Furthermore every college loves to advertise their successes and it can be hard to determine what is the best. In my experience it wasn't the academics necessarily that drew me to one school over another but the whole experience. Here are a few things that you should consider when looking at colleges:
1. Is the college accredited? - This is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing when looking at colleges. A non-accredited college is not recognized as a legit school. Credits are non-transferrable to other schools and what you think is a degree is not a legit and recognized degree.
2. How close to home do you want be?
3. Have you considered private colleges? - Private colleges may have a more expensive sticker price but often times provide better financial aid.
4. What type of studies are you interested in?

Best is relative. I have 3 kids that all went through college as well as worked with multiple students in ACM chapters and the most successful students I have found were ones that were in schools that they fit into more than the best math school or the best Computer School. I only speak for myself but when I look at a job candidate, I do not look for the highest grade point average or the best school. I look for the person who showed they could spend 4 years in an institution and has learned to deal with deadlines, learned to live and learn independently, learned to socialize and collaborate. Those skills are more important than what Languages you learned.
Out of my 3 children 1 vibed with the first school we visited and while we looked at a few others that is where he fit in and my youngest we visited 25-30 schools and she had some she liked and she was trying to find the "Best" school until we walked onto the campus of the school she ended up at (which was only because it was close to another schools we were visiting) and almost immediately we knew this was her school. All three have graduated and are employed and the choice my youngest made was the best choice of her life, she was very involved, comfortable and involved in multiple student leadership and honors activities.
