Bryan Johnson

Bryan Johnson is a multi-talented individual with a diverse background in music as a composer, choral arranger, producer, and choral teacher. His company Music to Illuminate Productions, is dedicated to providing services for choral arranging, compositions for film and other musical projects, choral instruction, choral workshops, and recording sessions with studio vocalists. 

He is the co-producer and co-writer for the song "Grocery Shopping With My Mother" by spoken word artist Kevin Powell that was nominated for a Grammy in 2024. As a composer, his works include sermonic films by Rev. Dr. Otis Moss II, Otis' Dream, a short film featured by Oprah Winfrey, nominated for many awards, and "When We Free The World", a documentary film directed by Kevin Powell and Evangeline.  His production credits include “Stay Connected” a nineteen-track album featuring the choirs of Trinity United Church of Christ, “A Faith For Our Time” by Ken Medema, “Better When” by Drea D’Nur, and  “Conversations” by Bryan Johnson and Kevin Powell Live at Joe's Pub, New York City. He has created several choral arrangements including,  "Stomp" recorded by the Brothers Johnson and "Tomorrow" (A Better You Better Me) both produced by the late great Quincy Jones. 

As a choral teacher, Bryan is dedicated to inspiring and educating singers through the power of music.  With a deep knowledge of vocal technique, choral repertoire, and music education, Bryan creates engaging and inspiring learning environments that empower students to explore their musical talents and grow as performers.

Through his work with Trinity United Church of Christ, Uniting Voices Chicago formerly known as Chicago Children's Choir, and various consulting jobs, he has led performance opportunities in Japan, Israel, Europe, and cities throughout the United States. He is married to Rev. Amber Coates Johnson.
