I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and I've always wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. Like many kids, I initially wanted to be a vet, but my focus shifted to nursing over the years. About five years ago, someone asked me what type of nursing I was interested in and who my main clientele would be. That question really made me think.

Having raised my younger sisters during their early years, I discovered that I genuinely enjoyed caring for them. This experience led me to consider caring for babies as a profession, giving them a chance at survival and helping complete families. That's when I decided that I wanted to be a NICU nurse, and five years later, with less than three years left in high school, my decision hasn't changed.

Last year, I started looking into the qualities and skills required for nursing, as well as potential schools. I even began writing my college essay, but that's another story. While researching online, I often found mixed answers about the requirements and necessary degrees. When I saw that some sources stated a high school diploma might be enough, I realized I was looking in the wrong places.
