I worked part-time all throughout college, so I totally get how tough it can be to juggle everything but it really prepares you for life after school.

My biggest pieces of advice? Don’t procrastinate, set a schedule, and try to stick to a routine. I’d literally block out time on my calendar for studying and homework like it was a class or a meeting—it helped keep me accountable. Also, be transparent with your workplace about your class load and deadlines. Most managers are understanding if you communicate early and clearly.

One mindset that really helped me: know which balls are rubber and which are glass. Some things can bounce back if you drop them; others might break and need your full attention. Learning to prioritize is a skill, and it’s okay to not get it perfect every time.

And most importantly, give yourself grace. Balancing college and a job isn’t easy, but it is doable, and it builds resilience like nothing else. You’ve got this! 💪

Gus’s Answer

Balancing work and school requires boundary setting and prioritizing the tasks that are most important. By listing out the needs of your job and your school requirements, you can identify the most important items to prioritize. Staying organized is key, and can help reduce the stress of juggling multiple asks of your time.
