Hi Andrea,
I'm not sure if my suggestions would be considered "less known" but I would suggest the following:
- It looks like Ohio State has their own portal for scholarship offerings called Scholarship Universe. I would start there! While there will be lots of applicants, you are only competing with other students at the school. While that might not sound very enticing, remember that most scholarships are open to EVERYONE which means there will be a far larger pool of applicants you are competing against. By applying to your school's scholarships, your chances are actually quiet high. They also have a list of merit based scholarships that can be found here: https://undergrad.osu.edu/cost-and-aid/merit-based-scholarships
- You can try doing research of businesses or companies in the vicinity of the school as they might offer scholarship opportunities as a way of giving back to the local community. For example, my high school was near a concrete mixing company and they gave away scholarships to the students! It wasn't widely known so the application pool was fairly small.
- It never hurts to talk to financial aid office at Ohio State!
