Hi Kenneth , I've worked in the kitchen for over 40yrs and learned that one of the most important thing to stand out in the kitchen is to be helpful to everybody in the kitchen. It will be easier to help all after many years of working in different establishments, knowledge of many cuisines, work with different groups of people and eventually become a chef. To be a chef makes it easier for people to except your help and guidance in the kitchen because the chef should be well respected. It's not easy to stand out in the kitchen unless you work really hard to learn the trade and be willing to share and guide others who want the same thing as you do. be yourself always and do things with a sense humor. Again to stand out in any line of profession is to be approachable and be able to help in anyway you can . Good luck and what ever you do, do it with a passion .

Hi Kenneth,
Here are a few ideas on how to stand out as a chef. Give people a reason to remember you, not just your food. This could be a memorable dish or maybe even a style or niche. Create a theme or recreate an idea with your own twist. Create an Experience, Not Just a Meal. Instead of just catering or cooking, make the entire experience special. Build a brand and show your personality. Tell your story and why you cook. Hoping this helps.

I’m not certain what you mean by being different? There are so many cooking voices/ roles in the culinary world/ and paths in which to use your skill set.
-Have you been working in a kitchen?
- Have attended any culinary schools/ classes to help with your skill set? Or further advance your skills?
-What is your passion? Being a chef is not so much about being “ different”, but more about your passions, your skills and walking your path.
Being a caterer still requires the basic knowledge of culinary, along with a thousand other skill sets in effort to execute events. What do you want of your career?

Hi there! I would recommend learning about nutrition, herbal medicine, and energetics of foods. This could help separate you from the most others in the industry. You could then incorporate this into dishes and partner with people in the health and wellness space to build awareness of what you do. I imagine people with chronic illnesses having a place to eat because the food is thoughtful put together for energy and taste!

Hello Kenneth
Separate yourself from others in the kitchen. To the waiters around you and constantly pick their brain. Leadership loves when they have a young talent that is willing to learn, has no ego, listens to others, regardless of their title. Truly, this is how to not only stand out, but to become a future leader
