What are some benefits to having multiple bachelor's degrees and/or minors across multiple fields aside from career mobility, if there are any at all?
I'm in a weird situation where I have extra time and semesters between now and finishing my primary degree because of how they structured the program and I'm wondering if diversifying is worth it

Great question, Chelsea, and I like what Dr. Fisch said. Pursuing another major or minor gives you further knowledge and ways of understanding the world. This supports creativity and seeing connections that others might not see. Plus, it expands the number of people you work with, which is potentially good for your network and dealing with people at work. One of my children double-majored in art history and anthropology and experienced all the benefits I mentioned. The early part of her career focused on the art part. But her current job applies more of the anthropology part.
If one of your majors is not strictly "work-oriented" (like art history), you may encounter some people in the work world who do not appreciate it at first. Once you explain the intellectual and personal growth you gained, most will, and it will not come up again. If some still don't, this may say more about their close-mindedness than about you. That could be a red flag about working with them.
I left a link below with more information and perspective. Good luck!

Diversifying is definitely worth it! Don't worry about what's marketable on paper. By expanding your training and opening your mind, you become much more valuable than if you only focus on one narrow area. You'll be able to connect different ideas and make breakthroughs that can benefit many fields. By exploring various interests, you make the most of your education. Plus, you get to taste a wide range in the "great buffet of knowledge" before choosing what you want to focus on and regular have for "food for thought". Best of luck on your journey!
