First of all, your commitment to supporting women who have experienced abuse is incredibly valuable, and the fact that you have decided to return to school in order to further this work professionally speaks volumes about your compassion and strength. You're opening up a number of meaningful opportunities where you can assist abuse survivors in a work environment with your experience and psychology degree.
Jobs in psychology that are a good fit for your objectives include Victim Advocate, Crisis Counselor, Case Manager, and Domestic Violence Advocate. These professions are frequently found in hospitals, non-profits, shelters, and community organizations. If you wish to offer therapy directly, you can also think about becoming a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with additional education or qualifications.
In addition to local domestic violence shelters, the YWCA, community mental health centers, and nonprofits that promote women's safety and empowerment, you may want to consider graduate school in social work or counseling if you're interested in clinical or supervisory positions in the future.
Connecting with groups that share your vision is the next step, since you already have the heart, the experience, and the knowledge. To get your foot in the door and continue to grow, look for volunteer work, internships, or entry-level positions. You're headed toward a significant impact.
Best wishes!
