Hello, Madeline !
Your other post says that your career choice is Fashion Merchandising and you are asking about where you can attend a place in which you can be involved in Cheer. If you are serious about a successful career in the fashion industry, I can provide some advice that I hope you're not too disappointed with. You need to know more about the fashion industry before embarking on a path for a career in it.
In order to have a viable, competitive and strong opportunity for a career in the fashion industry, you will definitely have to go to a Fashion School/Fashion Institute for your path in fashion merchandising. At a fashion school, you will learn merchandising as it applies to the fashion world and it's not just about clothing, it's accessories, jewelry, home furnishings, etc. You would be taught by fashion professionals and most importantly, have the chance to network with fashion industry leaders at fashion shows, conferences and events and learn how the industry is run. There's a heavy amount of networking required for this career and a Fashion School would put you in the right place.
I highly advise against going to a University for its Business or Merchandising Program. It would not prepare you for the fashion world, have opportunities for experience or projects focused on fashion. But the situation is that you want to be involved in Cheer and that opportunity usually presents itself at Universities. If you are serious about going into fashion, you would not have time for extra curriculars because your days would be filled focused on something connected to fashion. There's a lot to learn and a lot of people to meet. You just wouldn't get the correct experience going to a University, Majoring in Business or Merchandising, and that degree would not be competitive with degrees (or the connections) that others have from a Fashion School.
So, what this boils down to is do you want to do Cheer more than you want to be competitive in the Fashion World or do you want a strong fashion career that takes priority and is done so that you meet the right contacts and people get to know you as a standout merchandiser ? Fashion is an all consuming study and career and the choice you make is going to depend on how serious you are about the career. If you want to take a chance with a university path at which you can do Cheer, that's your choice, but others who attend Fashion School will be in the forefront and get the work over a general Business degree from a non-fashion centered university. It's too big of a financial and time investment to take the wrong path for this career.
Some Fashion Schools to consider would be The College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, and, School of the Art Institute of Chicago - this one is highly recommended, You can also consider, based on how serious and doable it may be, studying in one of the prominent Fashion Schools in New York City or Los Angeles where important connections to the industry can be made. The choice is up to you based on your personal circumstances.
So think it over, set priorities and read up more about the Fashion industry. Take your time choosing what to do and I hope my advice can be used as something to consider. Best wishes in all you do !

Thank you for your question. Many students have similar question. Different colleges have strength in different subjects. Firstly, you need to fly out what careers you have interest. Then, you can research on the colleges good at the relevant subjects.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc, and identify the related careers
Eg if you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
If you have like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Do research on the colleges good at relevant subjects and find out the entry criteria
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
