If you're a junior thinking about a career in biology, it's a good idea to build a strong science base without getting overwhelmed. Taking AP Biology or advanced biology is a great choice if your school offers it. These classes dive into genetics, evolution, cell biology, and lab work, which you'll encounter in college. Plus, they help you see if you really like biology beyond the basics.
If you've already taken regular biology, adding chemistry or AP Chemistry is a smart move. Chemistry is a big part of college biology, especially in areas like molecular biology and biochemistry. If you have space in your schedule, anatomy and physiology are also helpful, especially if you're interested in health or medicine.
In high school, you don't need to focus too narrowly. Colleges like to see that you've challenged yourself in science, done well, and stayed curious. Take the toughest biology-related class you can manage, focus on really understanding the material, and you'll be well-prepared for a biology major in college.

Choosing the highest level of Chemistry and Biology courses available at your high school can give you a strong start for studying Biology in college. If you have the chance, taking AP Chemistry is a great idea. It might be challenging, but it will prepare you well for a science major in college.
My son recently graduated with a Biology degree. Here's what he did in high school:
- He took AP Biology and AP Chemistry in his junior year.
- In his senior year, he studied Medical Terminology and Anatomy.
- During college, he studied almost as much Chemistry as Biology.
- If you're interested in a healthcare career, volunteering at a hospital is a fantastic activity to consider during high school or summer breaks.
Biology is such an exciting field! I'm thrilled for your journey ahead!

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know you have interest in biology.
Below are my suggestions:
1. There are many careers related biology, eg Doctor, Vet, Zoologist, Park Ranger, Biochemistry, engineer, etc. You can find more biology related careers online
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
