I'm not in this field myself, but I've picked up some tips from people who are. Starting young is a big advantage. At 17 or 18, it's great to learn how marketing, real estate, and investing work in real life. These areas rely a lot on talking to people and building relationships. Follow professionals online, listen to podcasts, and watch how they create their personal brands and connect with others. Don't hesitate to reach out and ask questions. Many professionals are happy to help someone eager to learn.

Building connections usually comes from being consistent. Look for internships, entry-level jobs, or ways to help small businesses with social media or promotions to get experience. If you're interested in real estate, ask agents if you can shadow them or help at open houses. Early experiences are more important than making money right away because they help you understand the industry and build confidence.

For investing, start by learning before risking real money. Read books, watch videos, and use practice platforms to simulate investing. Focus on good habits like saving, budgeting, and thinking long-term. These will help you more than trying to make quick money. Stay patient, keep learning, and work on skills like communication, networking, and financial literacy. These will support you no matter what path you choose.

It's great to be thinking of this early on in your career. I am in the marketing field and one of the best ways to build your network is by building relationships with people in your field. You can start with people you already know, like friends, family, and teachers. There's a possibility they know someone in the field you're interested in and can set up introductions. This will take some time, so while you're building your network take advantage of podcasts, LinkedIn groups, free classes or webinars to continue learning.
