Hi Ndimlo,
Achieving success in fintech is an exciting journey! Keep learning and gaining skills from different fields, and you'll see amazing progress. Begin by mixing finance basics with programming and data skills. Then, dive into new areas like blockchain or AI. Building connections and working on real projects will boost your growth even more. You can do it!

Stay updated on trends and be open to new ways to enter the industry. Focus on learning accounting and building a strong base in it. Keep improving your communication skills. You can learn anything, but knowing accounting well will help you move faster. Read articles, keep your LinkedIn profile current, and have informational interviews. Always keep your resume up to date, a great template is the Harvard Business School template that is free to download.

Hi there! Internship experience is incredibly valuable to better position yourself to be hired post-grad. One of the most helpful things I did while searching for internships was conducting informational interviews. Join clubs at your school or start conversations with people who have the jobs you are interested in pursuing post-grad.
If no one in your immediate circle works in the field you’re exploring, don’t hesitate to reach out to people on LinkedIn. A helpful tip: look for individuals who went to your college or share something in common with you. People are much more likely to respond when there’s a personal connection. It’s never too early to start networking, you truly never know what opportunities can come from a single conversation. For example, one informational interview I did in college led me to an entirely different internship than the one I originally had in mind, and it ended up being far more exciting and useful.
These conversations can also give you better insight into what the field/position typically looks for when hiring someone new for that type of position. It’s never too early to start networking or taking small steps toward your post‑grad goals.
