Should I follow a career in criminal justice or in business?

I am a student starting school this semester, and I am currently exploring different career paths for my future. I am interested in fields that allow me to help others and make a positive impact in my community. However, I am not completely sure whether I should pursue a career in criminal justice or business. Both areas interest me because they involve solving problems. I am hoping to learn more through my education so I can make the best decision for my future.

Choosing a career can be challenging, but it's important to pick something that truly makes you happy. Imagine yourself 15 years from now, what kind of work do you see yourself doing? What kind of job excites you? Fields like criminal justice and business offer many opportunities. Try exploring specific roles within these fields and talk to people who work in them. Ask about their daily tasks and what they love about their jobs. If sitting in an office all day doesn't appeal to you, remember that there are roles where you can actively engage with the community. Focus on jobs that interest you and learn more about them. Internships can also be a great way to discover what suits you best.

One way to get some good insights is to talk to people who are in both fields you are interested in and get their personal accounts. Ask about the jobs day-to-day and see how that interests you. There are many options for both directions which can definitely be overwhelming and produce a lot of questions. Once you start taking classes you may find you gravitate to one more than the other. Or the subject matter of one might excite you more than the other, and that will give you the answer. I would not put pressure on yourself to decide, but give yourself time to explore both options and allow the right path to come to you. Try research as much as you can about what a career in each would look like and try picture yourself in that. There is also no wrong answer, and you can always find ways to change in the future if you go down one path now.
