nursing assistant 3 - 6 months training and clinicals
medical assistant depends on state approx 1 yr
LPN 1 -2 years depending on state
RN 2-4 years depending on program
Advanced practice RN (many choices) 4 years plus 2-3 years additional education and training for advanced licenses
Medical school 4 undergrad yrs, 4 medical school yrs, and then a residency depending on chosen subspecialty typically 3 to 7 years.
THis is just a few of healthcare opportunities- You can start out in a starting field and progress while working, that is the good news.

Estelle’s Answer

As a gynecologist, I can tell you what it took to get to the place I am right now. I went to college for four years and received a degree in biology. I took the MCAT, and did four years of medical school. After that, I did a 4-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Best of luck in whatever career you decide on!

David’s Answer

Depend on what kind of health care profession you are trying to do or be, I would say 18 months to 10 years depend on how much and the level you are trying to reach. 18 months are the basic and quick, 2 years is a start like Technician to Associate Degree , 4 years with a Bachelor Degree, 5 years and more for Master, Doctoral or PHD., MD, DPD and etc. so it is really depend.

Rachel’s Answer

I can provide the answer for the role of physicians in surgery. This field requires a medical doctorate. This means that you will have to complete college with a bachelor’s degree as well as all of the Pre-med requirements. GPA should probably be 3.5 or better. You will also have to score well on the MCAT. Once accepted to medical school, as long as you pass your classes and perform reasonably well during your four years of medical training, you can apply for a general surgery 5 year residency. Following that, you will apply for a 1-3 year fellowship. This = 14+ years of school after high school.
