Dominick,
I did some research (googled auto mechanic) and found information regarding Auto Mechanics. The following duties and responsibilities can be found on https://www.thebalancecareers.com/automotive-mechanic-job-description-salary-and-skills-2061763 along with more information.
Automotive Mechanic Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Interact with customers to obtain information about the problems they're experiencing with their cars.
2. Examine various systems within cars to diagnose problems. They run computerized diagnostic tests to help them identify components that might be malfunctioning.
3. Remove parts that are worn or not operating properly and replace them with new or used parts.
4. Perform routine maintenance like oil, filter, and belt changes according to schedules established by various car manufacturers.
5. Explain repairs to customers and provide estimates for unanticipated repairs.
6. Pitch optional repairs or preventative maintenance to customers to generate additional revenue for the shop, although this can depend upon the employer.
7. Keep detailed records on all work performed.
As a car owner, I do some maintenance and repair but I also take the car to a mechanic for repairs/maintenance I cannot do. Mechanics need people skills to communicate with the customer, analytical skills to identify the cause of the problem, and be able to explain the cost of the repair to get the customer's approval before getting the parts and completing the job. There are many skills needed as a mechanic, all of which can be learned through education and experience.

Hello Dominick,
it's a great career you have aspired for I must say. On daily basis, you must be very attentive to customers, prioritize your schedules based on your customer needs, have a good sense of the market, be proactive and analytical when sharing details. To master this, I would suggest you take any basic study in Applied Electricity and Auto Mechanics and also enroll for an apprenticeship program with any firm in this area.
