A graduation and post-graduate degree from a reputable college offering the subject is required for anyone interested in becoming a marine engineer. This is the minimal minimum, and getting into this course does not require much. It's perfectly acceptable to use a senior secondary certificate. The duration of this degree is usually four years, although it can vary depending on where you are.

The life of a maritime engineer is far from easy. I am not exaggerating when I say that a marine engineer is required to know virtually everything about the ship. A marine engineer should know everything about the ship, from the overall design to how each component operates. They are not only responsible for understanding them, but also for developing the ship's steering system, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, as well as the ship's hydraulics.

After they've designed the system and sketched out where and how each component should go, such as where each duct, machine, and power source should go, they move on to calculating the overall system's maintenance costs, which must then be authorised by management. Following the approval of the budget and the selection of the design and specification to be followed, the next step is to conduct periodical inspections and checks.

A marine engineer must also keep management up to date on expenditures and progress reports on a regular basis. They are also responsible for resolving any issues that arise. As can be seen, maritime engineers may complete the majority of the work from the comfort of their office. They must remain on the ships for inspection and to have a deeper understanding of the ship's and crew's requirements. They also perform maintenance work; for example, a marine engineer with expertise in offshore drilling may be necessary to manage the machine's and process components' maintenance and repair.

All the best!

What do you mean exactly? Do you mean how hard it is to find a job or how hard the job is?

I can't tell you if it is hard or not to find a job; however, I can tell you that the growth of this career in the states is acceptable. I did find a link saying that there are plenty of job in marine engineering but it did not state any statistics. Regarding how hard the job is, the link below would help you to gauge how challenging the job could be.
