[closed] When moving up the career ladder for office management, how can someone be an initiator?

Hello,

My name is Aimee and I am a current business senior major with an interest in business administration and management. My passion for education and life-long learning drives me to work smarter and use my natural curiosity to obtain knowledgeable information about business. I have taken a few classes in business management, marketing, accounting, and business leadership that have allowed me to develop skills to succeed and thrive in the workplace. Likewise, I have some work experience and volunteering activities that have allowed me to take the lead in projects. When moving up, some tips are that someone can dress up for success, seek more help, and work harder to prove his or her worth and dedication to the company. I also read something about being in the minority of people who initiate conversations and start new opportunities. What does it mean to be an initiator for a business office?

Laurent’s Answer

Hi Aimee,

The Initiator is a person who has force proposal to take the initiative and the lead on something (a task, a project, ...) without being assigned or asked to do it. You may be expert on the subject or not; but that would not stop him. He is the person who starts the decision making process by recognizing that a particular problem needs to be addressed to satisfy a specific need. This would be useful to demonstrate your strength of character and skills: Taking risks, taking the lead, leaving your comfort zone, being available for others, problem thinker and solver, ...

Shante’s Answer

Taking the initiative is doing a task without being asked to do so, to take the first step at something and showing others you are not afraid or timid of tasks/assignments you may not be familiar with. It is to let others know your potential without being overly aggressive about it. Even if you are wrong on how to do the task the fact is you attempted to do something you had no idea how to do is one way of looking at it.
