What advice do you have for someone who wants to find an educational summer job?

Which kind of job should I look for? What work experience should I list? What as a type of job that would be easy to get as a college student? #college-major #education #internships #career-choice #job-search #higher-education #college-jobs #summer-jobs

Do not be afraid to try something new, something you have never done before and think you may not have enough knowledge or experience to do well. This is your time to learn, and this is your time to make mistakes (and learn from them). Life gets a lot more serious once you start a "real job". As always, do your best and learn as much as you can, but be very open minded to new opportunities and experiences. You are more likely meet great people, make few friends, and learn about something you didn't even know it exists.
As far as what kind of summer job you should look for, that really depends on your interests and future goals. I would start there. And if you really have no clue (which is OK :) ) from the list of opportunities you may find, just pick whatever appeals to you the most. And don't worry about the experience too much, often business just needs some help with simple task that do not require much experience. They will also train you or at least explain what and how to do it. So do not worry in advance, go for it! And Good Luck!

Hi,

You will gain knowledge and experience regardless of what type of summer job you choice. You will also obtain skills which you will be able to list on your resume which will help you in obtaining future employment. There will be skill that you will learn on any job, which are considered transferable skills and you will be able to apply them to other jobs. These skills would be things like customer service, communication skills, being reliable, dependable and showing up for work on time. I would suggest that you seek employment in an area which you find interesting, this will provide you the opportunity to check it out and see if it is a good fit for you.

Best of luck.

That completely depends on where you are educationally. Teachers can find plenty of summer school spaces. If you don't have any sort of degree, I would recommend checking with schools, day camps, daycare centers, etc. to see if they need aides to help the teachers. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of education jobs that don't require a degree. If possible you could volunteer some place.
