Jesennia’s Answer

Hello Alicia,
My name is Jesennia Bonilla.
To answer your question most community colleges offer online courses and in-person. All will depend on the college and what you are studying. I will recommend looking up the community college you have interested in the most and learning about their academic resources. Also, get advice from admission and academic counselors from the college.

Jesennia recommends the following next steps:

Research academic resources of the college of interest
Contact an advisor from the college

Ryan’s Answer

Hello Alicia! Like the others have said, the best thing you can do is reach out to the school(s) you're interested in and ask them directly. There are people working there whos entire jobs are to answer questions like yours and help you figure out your path to education.

Most community colleges offer some online classes. This is because most community colleges are designed to educate what are called "non-traditional students." For example, Sarah may have to work 9am to 5pm every day to pay her bills, but she still wants to go to school to earn her degree or learn a new trade. So, to accommodate people like Sarah, community colleges offer many classes in the evenings, on the weekends, and online! The recent pandemic has only further increased the popularity of these online classes.

If you're interested in earning a degree 100% online and South Mountain Community College doesn't offer one, you will likely be able to find one elsewhere. I earned my Master's Degree entirely online! Just make sure you do your research to make sure the school is accredited, reputable, and the proper balance of affordability and quality of education.

Hi Alicia,
You may want to check the course catalog for your college to see what their offerings online look like, or call an academic advisor at that school. My community college offered quite a lot online.

To piggy-back on Jesennia's brilliant answer...speaking to an advisor best course of action. CoVid has offered many challenges on that. Some schools want to go "back to normal"....some are enjoying hybrid mode.

Go to the school's site and look for their course catalog/academic bulletin if you can. They might have been part online/hybrid pre-CoVid anyway...
