Kaden,
This is a great question; I can already tell that you're putting on your design hat, and already beginning to think like a designer. This is a pretty involved question and I'm looking forward to the responses you're about to receive.
In my humble opinion, it's always worth noticing the various marketing strategies that companies use. This starts with having an effective brand — consider a company's look, feel, appeal, voice, and messaging. In addition, think of how brands interact with its intended audience (social media, events, ads, etc).
In addition, I believe that it's worth 'testing' your marketing campaigns with sponsor-users and targets; find out what's working, get feedback, iterate, and improve.
Essentially, good design is about knowing your users, and solving their problems with intent. Great marketing allows your brand to connect with your audience.
Start by taking notice of the marketing around you
Think about what works... consider the things you buy or subscribe to, and ask yourself "what was it about this product or service that captured my attention"
Notice how branding plays an part in how companies connect with their audience
Be mindful of how companies engage with their users and customers
Remember, it's all about connection.

Hello Kaden,
Your question is the mere essence of marketing :) and also why I love my job so much! You are asking the same question we ask ourselves, or also solve and iterate on, every single day. And it's hard to answer because the answer itself is constantly evolving. When I started in marketing 12 years ago, the answer seemed to be just good design. But now that we are years into the fourth industrial revolution, good design is everywhere. Then you started seeing things like interaction, ease of use, video, etc.
More recently, my company has moved into the strategic direction of storytelling. The use of storytelling can be applied to so many different applications and it effectively engages everyone at every level because people see themselves in it and can relate to it. A great book I read was StoryBrand by Donald Miller—I had my whole team read it to be exact. And of course, we will continue to iterate on this and find even more ways, as the world continues to evolve, to engage our audiences.
I hope this answers your question and I wish you the best of luck in your Digital Marketing career!

There are a number of ways to do this, but it ultimately comes down to creating content that is interesting and relevant to your audience. This means understanding what your audience wants and needs, and then creating content that meets those needs. It also means being proactive and engaging with your audience on a regular basis.
The most important thing to remember is that your audience is always changing. This means that you need to be constantly adapting your content to meet their needs. This can be a challenge, but it’s also what makes digital marketing so exciting. It’s always changing, and always evolving, which means there’s always something new to learn.
So, what makes something engaging to an audience in digital marketing? It’s all about understanding your audience and creating content that meets their needs.

I built my career in content marketing, storytelling, and employer branding. In my experience, the content I created that always received the highest engagement rates were the stories that were authentic and personal. People like to have an emotional reaction to something they're reading, or to be able to relate to someone else's experiences. These are also the types of content that have the most impact. For example, in my role, my job is to promote my company as a great place to work. When I write content about our company benefits or career growth programs, it does get engagement, but when I write personal stories like how one of our employees struggles with a disability they have, and they wanted to share advice they have for others with disabilities - those types of story pieces have the highest engagement and impact. This can also be true for product marketing - when you showcase stories about how your product made an impact on your customer and solved their challenges, those stories are more relatable, than let's say, an article about an update to your product features. All types of content are important - but the ones that are personal, I find are the most engaging.

Hi Kaden,
You can capture an audience's attention by focusing on the problem they are trying to solve. People are always interested in learning how they can solve their problems, and they look for products and services that can help them solve those problems.
If you are doing digital marketing for a clothing company, you think about the potential customers you are trying to reach -- if it's a sporting company, your audience is looking for clothing that will be useful in certain hot/cold/wet/hiking/running environments. Your digital marketing focuses on how your company's product (weather proof jackets, water proof boots, etc.) helps solve your audience's problem with finding the right clothing that works for their needs.
If you're doing digital marketing for a technology company, you'll need to understand what problem that technology solves. For example, if you work for a company that sells a software that truck drivers can use while driving across the country that helps them track road conditions, weather, find rest stops or alert them of technical problems with the truck, you capture your audience's attention (the truck driver or companies like Walmart that have fleets of trucks) by using digital marketing that shows how your software improves the truck driver's job by providing useful information and safety.

The number one question to ask yourself is who is your audience? Depending on what field you go into and what you're marketing, you will note what the primary focus is and and what product or service you are trying to market to them. Once you can figure this out, you can develop marketing strategies for social media, events, and campaigns. Audiences are looking for relevant, original, and personalized content that is educational and engaging. Branding and visuals play a huge role in captivating an audience.
Demonstrate value of product or service marketing
Create personal connections and relationships with client
Focus on branding and overall aesthetic: logos, brand colors, headlines. etc.

Hello Kaden,
Kick-Off
In the realm of digital marketing, the art of capturing the attention of an audience lies in the creation of engaging content. Such content not only enhances brand visibility but also fosters customer loyalty and boosts conversion rates. This essay will delve into the various aspects that make content engaging and offer practical tips to incorporate them into your digital marketing tactics.
Knowing Your Audience
The cornerstone of creating captivating content is a thorough understanding of your target audience. This involves knowing their demographic details, such as age, gender, location, and interests, as well as their challenges, motivations, and preferences. By customizing your content to resonate with your audience, you can increase the chances of grabbing their attention and keeping them hooked.
Mastering the Art of Headlines
Headlines are pivotal in seizing an audience's attention. They need to be catchy, informative, and relevant to the content they precede. To master the art of headlines, consider the use of numbers, questions, emotional triggers, and keywords that align with your target audience's interests.
Designing Eye-Catching Content
Visual components like images, videos, infographics, and animations can significantly boost engagement levels. High-quality visuals help break down large chunks of text, making the content more digestible and visually pleasing. Ensure your visuals are in line with your brand image and are optimized for various devices and platforms.
Staying Consistent and Authentic
Maintaining a consistent brand voice, tone, and message helps build trust and credibility with your audience. Authenticity is equally important, as audiences value transparency and genuine interactions. Uphold your brand values and maintain a consistent presence across all platforms to encourage engagement.
Incorporating Storytelling Techniques
Storytelling has always been a powerful tool to captivate humans. Incorporating storytelling techniques into your content can make it more relatable, memorable, and emotionally impactful. Consider using narratives, character development, and conflict resolution to engage your audience and effectively deliver your message.
Promoting Interaction and Feedback
Engagement is a two-way street – promote audience interaction with your content by asking questions, seeking feedback, and responding to comments. This helps build a sense of community and provides you with valuable insights to enhance future content strategies.
Tailoring Content for Various Platforms
Different platforms demand different content formats and lengths. To optimize engagement, customize your content to suit each platform's unique features and user preferences. For instance, shorter, visually-oriented posts work well on Instagram, while longer, in-depth articles are more appropriate for LinkedIn.
Partnering with Influencers
Teaming up with influencers who share your brand values and target audience can extend your content's reach and credibility. Influencers often have established relationships with their followers, making them more likely to engage with content shared by someone they trust.
Tracking and Analyzing Engagement Metrics
To consistently enhance engagement levels, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as likes, shares, comments, click-through rates, and conversion rates. Use analytics tools to gain insights into your audience's behavior and preferences, enabling you to fine-tune your content strategy accordingly.
Wrap-Up
Securing and sustaining an audience's attention in digital marketing demands a comprehensive understanding of your target demographic, compelling content creation, and strategic distribution across various platforms. By adopting these strategies and consistently analyzing engagement metrics, you can devise a successful digital marketing campaign that resonates with your audience and drives business results.

Hi Kaden!
This is a fantastic question, and one that Instructional Designers such as myself are constantly revisiting.
You have a wealth of information in the other responses, so I will keep my response to the point.
When I begin to design a training and want to capture an audience's attention, here is what I consider:
-How would I personally get interested in this topic? How would I want it presented to me?
-People find interest in something when they feel personally connected to it. How can I relate to others through this?
-Tell a story! Everyone loves a good story.
-Why should someone else take the time to view this? Make it worth their time.
-Sometimes simpler is better. Break it down so everyone can understand and enjoy it.
-Brainstorm your ideas on scratch paper and talk yourself through them before getting started on a project. You'll be amazed what starts to come to mind.
