Would committing to art and graphic design (as a career path) be a reliable option? And if not, are there alternatives so i can still do what i love?

Hi! From my personal experience, I believe that Graphic design can be a reliable career path but you would just have to keep working really hard. When I say "work hard" I mean constantly working on your portfolio, networking and meeting other people and making meaningful connections. As a graphic design student myself, its been both fun and satisfying but if I'm being honest, I would like to feel more "financially stable" in the long run. So as an alternative career path, you could try UX/UI Design! There's boot camps and certificates that you can do but I personally have been self teaching myself the basics while going to school for Graphic Design (since my school doesn't offer anything ux/ui related). Graphic design primarily deals with creating visual assets for communication purposes. This includes designing logos, posters, brochures, packaging, websites, and more. UX/UI design concentrates on creating user-centered experiences for digital products and websites. It involves understanding user needs, behavior, and emotions to optimize usability and satisfaction.
