I will add a few things, but you have been given good advice already.

While in college make sure you are exploring your options and doing things that you enjoy that can help your application. If you like volunteering in a childrens hospital keep doing that. Shadow a couple of physicians and see what the work looks like. Research is important and finding projects can be difficult so look for this as soon as you can. Leadership of clubs is easy to come by if you join them early in freshmen sophmore year. Do these things and crush your courses and you will be good to go.

That's a great goal to aim for! Even though I didn't attend college myself, if you're interested in becoming an anesthesiologist, focus on excelling in your science and math courses. Since I've found success in my own way, remember that hard work, dedication, and continuous learning will be your best allies in achieving your dreams.

Hello, Savannah !

What an interesting career goal you have ! I would be happy to hopefully shed some light on what you've asked.

If you are enrolled in your high school's nursing course, that will be a wonderful foundation for you on your way to your long term goal. You didn't actually say you are a nursing student but that's okay because in order to become an anesthesiologist, you will go through the needed course of study after high school regardless of what you are doing now.

Your first step is to get a Bachelor's degree and take biology, chemistry, math and physics among other similar courses. Than you go on to four years of medical school and get an anesthesiology residency and go to be licensed. It is optional to get a fellowship and certification but better career opportunities can be had if you do get those. The fellowship and certification will give you an edge.

What you can do now is ace all of your science and any math classes you are taking in high school. Also, if you are indeed in the school's nursing program, learn all you can and even do some volunteer work at a hospital if that is possible. This will help you greatly and give you foresight into what it may be like to be an anesthesiologist.

It may be interesting and helpful to you to read about what characteristics one should have if they want to be an anesthesiologist. I will provide a link below to The Anesthesiologist Consultant website which is quite informative and pertinent to your career choice. It is useful for the insight you may want to gain right now.

I hope that this has helped and I wish you well in your studies !

You've already been given some fantastic guidance.

To further enrich this, you might want to think about options such as job shadowing or volunteering in the healthcare sector. Alternatively, you could seek a part-time job in a field related to healthcare. Another beneficial idea would be to enroll in a pre-med program designed for high school students. And finally, don't underestimate the power of self-education! Take the initiative to learn more about medical careers by watching informative videos, reading books, and so on.
