Howard’s Answer

You need to learn the basics first. Then practice to get good at the techniques you need to be a good baker.
In classic kitchens, a baker makes bread and dough. A Pastry chef makes sweets. Each can and often do both. But in Europe, they are often separate jobs. You can get recipes online and from chefs. But you will need to know the basics of formulas, weights, and measurements. Learn the math for working in a kitchen and levening agents If you do not understand the recipe you will not have good results.

Stephanie’s Answer

Cookies are the best type of dessert for beginner bakers! One of my favorite cookies to bake is snickerdoodles, which you can find a recipe for anywhere online. My mom and I's secret to baking is splitting the oven time in half. For example, if the recipe says to bake it for 11 minutes, we bake it for 6 minutes and then turn the tray around for the last 5 minutes.

Here is a really good baking recipe website that I love: https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/

Axel’s Answer

"Hello Kenley, the journey into baking and pastry is a great one; these two aspects of cooking showcase marvelous results through strict adherence to recipes and indispensable techniques when delving into the wonderful world of baking and pastry. I recommend starting with cake or bread recipes that you like, in a simple manner and with the help of your parents when using the oven. From my own experience, the complete process of making bread—measuring the ingredients, kneading the dough, waiting for it to rise, and then shaping it to bake—is one of the most fascinating things in the kitchen.

I suggest trying pizza dough; you can find thousands of recipes on the internet or YouTube, sticking to Italian recipes as they are the most common for pizza. From there, it's up to you to practice, which is a fundamental part of the learning process in the fun world of baking and pastry. Have fun!"

Kathleen’s Answer

Keep at it, because practice leads to mastery! Head to your local library and find a top-notch cookbook with clear, easy-to-follow instructions to sharpen your culinary skills. Once you're of age, consider working in a restaurant or bakery to truly experience the field and decide if it's your calling. Remember, you don't necessarily need a high-end culinary school to succeed - community colleges offer comprehensive education too. Dream big, but remember that success can be achieved through various paths. Best of luck on your journey!
