What are some insightful tips to become an aspiring skillful graphic-designer?
I would like to major in graphic-design, but I'm not sure where to begin. I love sharing the various content I create as an active social media manager for multiple clubs. Fortunately, my school provides a multimedia design course, and I'm wondering how I may advance from this point. As a high school junior in the eleventh grade, I don't want to pass up any opportunities that could help me in the future!

Sarah, here's a thought: Go to a jobs site like LinkedIn or Indeed and look for graphic design jobs. Those job ads will list personal qualities, skills, and experiences they want an applicant to demonstrate, and they'll often ask for specific kinds of portfolio samples. I'm mostly looking for print design and writing work, but from what I've seen, most employers want to see the development of campaigns--a central idea and how various ads or posts support that idea, for instance.

Have you documented your club social media content? You might do some screen grabs of posts, then write short descriptions of your posts or campaigns and explain your design choices. Potential employers will want you to demonstrate your thought process, so it's good to get a handle on talking and writing about your work now.
I'm assuming you'll get some work samples from your multimedia course, so those will help too.
Also, have you considered informational interviews? Do your teachers or other adults in your life know anyone working in the industries you're looking at, such as advertising or public relations? Many pros enjoy talking to students about their career paths, and they might even be willing to look at your student work and give you some tips. Those interviews might even lead to internships later on.
Just a few ideas here--I'm sure you'll get some more.
