What is some general advice for those looking to apply to medical school post-grad ?

I am currently a freshman attending college and double majoring in Psychology and Biology. Post-grad, I plan on going to medical school and wanted to start prepping my resume early. The only issue is that I am a little lost when it comes to what they might want to see. Please let me know of any advice you might have. Thank you!

I would say that past medical experience and patient care is almost looked more greatly upon than your GPA.

You are on the right track with the majors you have selected. In addition to biology, you would do well to take a course in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. It is, of course, important to get very good grades, so be sure that you develop a routine for studying that keeps you on top of what is going on in each of your classes. If you can manage all of this and still have time for extracurricular activities, you might consider sports for physical fitness, or consider volunteer work in a medical facility if there is one in your area. Life is not all about work with no fun, so try to find things to do that interest you and give you pleasure. The most important habit that you might do well to develop is self-discipline. Being successful as a doctor is as rewarding a career as you can find, but it does require you to think about how you would like to plan your life and figure out what you really want to do, because working in medicine is about doing the best that can be done to help your patients. You have to become the best you can be, and you have to figure out how to stay there. It is not the easiest thing to do, but it does give you as rewarding a life as it is possible to have.
