What would be the best ways to find which field I'm the most interested in?

I'm a psychology major, and I'm halfway through my bachelor's, but I'm still not exactly sure what would be the best course of action to find out what specific field interests me the most. And as much as I would like to do internships, I also want to make sure I get paid, so I can continue to pay for school. I already know I'm not really interested in psychiatry or being research focused, however with research I'm more open to the idea.

I encourage asking different professionals in the field if they're open to a 30 minute interview!

Ask them questions such as:
- What did your journey to this specialty look like?
- What do you find meaningful about your specialty?
- What kinds of challenges do you encounter & solve?
- What does your day-to-day look like?
- If you had a magic wand, what would you change about your work?
Thank you comment icon Thank you, I could ask my professors or a few staff members in that field at my college. I think that would be helpful to know what each path could and would offer Kirsten

I heard someone say that, rather than asking a child the question, "What do I want to be when you grow up?", ask, "What problem do you want to help solve?" I think this can also apply at any age! What problems are you most passionate about solving?
Thank you comment icon Thank you. That actually does help a little. I'm still in between a few options, but having that question does help me understand what I'm looking for more. Kirsten

I'd think psychology combined with a different skill be more effective. For example, psychology could be a added benefit for marketing, business, computers, etc. in addition to other common areas like law, education, public health, criminal justice etc.
