The following tips are helpful to pass the NCLEX:
1. Maintain a great balance of nutrition, resting, and study scheduling will help the brain retain information.
2. Form study groups comprised of trustworthy and focused classmates.
3. Focus on understanding the material to form connections between diseases, symptoms, treatments, nursing interventions, and treatment responses.
4. Prioritize learning: Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro, Med-Surg, and Pharmacology common medications (Mechanism of action, side effects/adverse reactions, nursing interventions), key content.
5. Practice answering NCLEX study questions to learn the critical thinking focus and rationales for correct and incorrect answers.
6. Conduct quizzes on reviewed topics by using flashcards or other nursing study quiz materials.

Susana’s Answer

Dear Magdalyn! That’s a beautiful path you’re on. I am so proud of you to hear that you’re a Christian, hands-on learner with a clear goal to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP). These are my best advice and study tips for someone in your shoes:

Best Advice for a BSN Student:
1. Anchor Yourself Spiritually
Start your day with prayer, even if short. Nursing is intense—mentally, emotionally, spiritually—and leaning on God daily gives strength, clarity, and peace:

“The Lord is my strength and my shield…” (Psalm 28:7)

2. Embrace the Process, Not Just the Grades
Nursing school isn’t about memorizing facts—it’s about transforming into a nurse. Every late night and clinical shift is shaping your future as a compassionate, skilled provider.

3. Stay Curious and Ask Questions
Don’t be afraid to ask your instructors and clinical preceptors “why.” The best nurses are those who seek to understand, not just pass exams.

Study Tips for Hands-On Learners:
You learn best by doing, so here are methods that match your style:

Active Learning
Practice with your hands: Use lab kits, flashcards, or even make your own models at home (ex: blood pressure practice or labeling anatomy diagrams).

Teach back what you’ve learned to a classmate or even a mirror—explaining it aloud helps retention.

📽️ Visual + Kinesthetic Tools
Watch YouTube channels like Registered Nurse (RN) or Simple Nursing—they break down complex topics with visuals and real-life examples.

Use NCLEX-style apps with case scenarios where you can make decisions (like UWorld or Nursing.com).

Study in Short Focused Blocks
Try the Pomodoro technique:
25 minutes studying → 5-minute break
After 4 rounds → 30-minute break.
It keeps your brain sharp without burnout.

Bonus Tips:
Join a study group, especially for hands-on labs or care plans.

Use color-coded notes and diagrams.

Record lectures and re-listen while commuting or walking.

Don’t cram. Nursing exams test application, not recall.

Sleep well. No amount of studying beats a rested brain.

💬 Finally,
You’re going to touch lives in powerful ways. Keep your eyes on your purpose, trust in the Lord, and do not lean on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5–6). When challenging times arise and fear grips you, remember God’s words to you: “Fear not” (Isaiah 41:10). Take it one week at a time. You’ve got the heart of a nurse—and that matters most.
