Sachin’s Answer

Hi Aishwarya,

Thanks for the question. From what I could find on Cellular Engineering, research is conducted aimed at the study of physical effects on cell and tissue regulation. Knowledge gained from these studies foster efforts to incorporate physical forces in strategies to develop tissue substitutes that mimic or restore normal tissue structure-function in orthopaedic (e.g. articular cartilage) and other load-bearing tissues of the body. The ultimate goal is to contribute developing strategies to alleviate the most prevalent problems afflicting the musculoskeletal system today such as osteoarthritis and problems related to sports and occupational injuries.

Hope this helps!

Yana’s Answer

Some examples of cellular engineering in research include medical devices and how to incorporate them into the human body with limited negative reactions. This can be done with surface technology or anti inflammatory technology to name a few. Other areas include biological 3D printing , biologics, and tissue regeneration.
