How do I go about finding a good paid internship in the summer for my STEM related field #Fall25?
I am an undergraduate freshman majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. As of now, I plan on being a dentist when I obtain my graduate degree.

You will have to grind and put yourself out there. A good place to start is with your professors within your department or if your school offers an allied health program check with the dental hygiene asvisors. They may or may not have anything but if something comes up they'll habe you in mind. Check if your department or university has a job board or an alumni network that offers internships. Laslty, you check job website like Indeed, or LinkedIn for dental internships or you can call around on your own. Not all internships are paid but the experience can be valuable.

Here’s a step-by-step game plan to help you find a good, paid STEM internship for Summer 2025 (for Fall ‘25 semester) — especially effective for high-school/college students aiming for competitive roles.
1. Start Early (Now – Jan 2025)
Most paid STEM internships release applications September–February, and the best ones fill fast.
Open now or opening soon (for Summer 2025):
Google STEP & Engineering Practicum
Microsoft Discovery & Explore programs
MITRE student programs
NASA internships (paid)
NIST Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
DOE Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI)
National Institutes of Health (NIH SIP)
Boston-based biotech/research labs (BU, Harvard, Northeastern, Tufts)
MassBioEd, MassLifeSciences internships (Massachusetts-specific)
Local hospitals for biology/medical internships
Tech companies (software/dev/cybersecurity): HubSpot, Oracle, Akamai, Liberty Mutual, etc.
Because you are in STEM, Massachusetts, interested in biology + medical paths, and aiming for paid opportunities, these programs fit extremely well.
2. Build a Target List of 20–30 Internships
Use these platforms:
Internship Search Sites
Handshake (best for college-linked opportunities)
LinkedIn Jobs → Filter: “Internship”, “Summer 2025”, “Paid”
Indeed → “Summer STEM Intern”
Vector (Massachusetts internships)
MassBio Careers → Life science internships
Zintellect → Federal/Research internships
NASA OSSI Portal
WayUp → Paid internships only
For Biology/Medical Fields
NIH SIP (Science Internship Program) – paid, research-heavy
Dana Farber / MGH / Brigham & Women’s Hospital summer programs
Harvard / MIT summer research (HMX, HSSP, RISE)
For Tech / Engineering / CS
Google, Microsoft, Meta, Northeastern Research Co-ops, Raytheon, MITRE
CAMP, MIT Beaver Works programs
