Best study tips and methods for new bio majors!
What are some of the best ways to study for a biology major? I'm currently a senior in high school and for college I want bio to be my major! While I am really good at biology, I know college is quite a bit different, so if you have any tips let me know!

Revise your study habits by reviewing cell biology, genetics, and basic chemistry, practicing diagrams, and making flashcards for key terms. Resources like Campbell Biology, Khan Academy, and apps such as Notion, OneNote, or Obsidian can help you stay organized and reinforce learning. College biology goes much deeper than high school, so active study methods are essential. These include using flashcards and spaced repetition with tools like Quizlet, explaining concepts to peers, creating concept diagrams, solving practice problems, analyzing data, and summarizing ideas in your own words. Daily review, along with practice problems, lab exercises, and data interpretation, strengthens understanding, and being comfortable with lab work, writing reports, and analyzing results gives you a significant advantage.

You will need to change your study habits. Biology in high school is more memorization and regurgitation of book material. College Biology as a major is more indepth introduction to all kinds of "ology" that you may want to pursue in grad or med school. You will be expected to understand concepts and apply it to other classes, use deductive reasoning when topics are not explicitly covered. It's challenging but not impossible.
Time management and Organization key. Plan out out study time, due dates, tests for all classes not just biology. Be intentional about what you do with your study time. Use all study resources avaliable (Flash cards, diagrams, notes, tutors, study groups, etc). Come to study groups prepared to get more out of it.
All the best
