If I want to become an elementary school teacher, is it better to get my associate (transfer) degree in Early Childhood Education or Child & Adolescent Development?

I would probably prefer to teach Kindergarten or even TK. I plan to transfer to a UC or Cal State for my bachelor's degree.

I am not sure where you plan to get your Associates Degree, but I am assuming that you have done some research on this and have made at least a tentative decision.

As to the two choices you provided.

Is it possible to simply do both?

If not, in all probability Early Childhood Education would, in my opinion, would be your best option to get you started on your way.

If this were to then be your choice, would there be any psychology courses available to you to explore Child and Adolescent Development? If not, you may be able to explore this important area once you transfer.

In addition, I would make an appointments to visit some of the elementary schools in your area, both public and private, and ask this pertinent question there. With a bit of luck you may be able to talk to some of the teachers, and, to my mind, they are the experts when it comes to this sort of thing.
