As a current college sophomore, how do I begin making meaningful connections in the healthcare field?

I am currently studying health science, planning to complete an Masters of Science in Nursing after my undergraduate education.

Hi Olivia,
I think James has some great ideas. You can also try reaching out to nurses, healthcare professionals, and leaders on LinkedIn. Don't hesitate to introduce yourself and express your interest in connecting. In my experience, people in healthcare are usually very open to connecting on LinkedIn. You might also find some inspiring people to follow who could guide your career and goals. You never know, you might even meet a future mentor.

Fortunately, you don't actually have to make such connections yet. You will make them during your MSN studies.
However, you live near some wonderful healthcare entities that may well have opportunities if you reach out to them to shadow nurses, or at least meet with some to discuss what they do and don't like about nursing. They can tell you about the wide range of nursing jobs you can ultimately consider. You may also consider talking to other healthcare team members about their work lives, so you understand the interactions of how teams care for patients. There may be RNs in local clinics, not just in the hospitals.
I know several people who found it wonderful to become EMTs, MAs, or ED Techs to learn more about healthcare delivery and teamwork.
Best of luck!
