What would be the best way to enter the work force from being a full time student at a university ?
I am a high school senior that plans on majoring in Chemical Engineering. Im just trying to find ways of what would be best suited for me that would allow me to pursue my passion within stem, as well as allow me to find a placement that would allow me to start somewhere and build on myself.

Hi Kadence! I also major in chemical engineering and found doing internships and attending career fairs to be extremely valuable in the job hunt. I did two internships in the two summers of my two final years, one which I found at a careers fair and another which I found on an online internship listing page. This is a great way to try out different areas of chemical engineering. For example one of mine was research based on the other one was manufacturing engineering based. I quickly learned to rule out certain fields as well as discovered new fields. I also always think chatting with fellow students is a great way to get inspiration for fields or jobs that you might also be interested in and may not have been aware of before. If you do succeed in your internship a lot of companies offer return job offers full-time once you graduate. In terms of the actual job hunt I spent a lot of my time in my final year applying to jobs on the side and interviewing a few months in advance allowing me to line up a full-time job that started once I graduated. I would also recommend asking around at your university because they offer supports in the transition to the job world. I'm sure university also offers field specific career fairs.

Best thing to do is try to get some internships during your time at school, whether volunteering or paid. Then looking for internships later in your university time that could potentially convert to full time positions. Campus recruiters will also be looking for candidates who did not intern with them so look for those opportunities if your internship didn't seem like the best fit or didn't come with a return offer for a full time position.

After you finish your studies in chemical engineering you will receive a degree from the university you attend
The university will assist you in the job search process as many companies will even come on campus to recruit graduating engineers
