Meredith’s Answer

The steps to becoming a lawyer are first, to complete your undergraduate degree. Second, you would need to go to a law school, which takes at least three years. Third, you would take the bar exam in the state in which you would want to practice. If you pass the exam, you would be licensed to practice law in that state. Fourth, you would need to find a job in the area of law that interests you. The legal profession has many options which include criminal work, corporate work, government, and you could also be an in-house attorney. lawyer legal

Daniel’s Answer

Well you need to go to law school and take the LSAT. There are many good perpetrator courses offered by various companies. Most schools will look at your exam results and your grades in college. If your exam results are good, it can make up for not having the best grades in college.

karthik’s Answer

You can become a professional after getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, commonly known as LLB. You have three types of institutions to choose from.
Public university departments/colleges
National Law Schools
Private institutions
The course can be a 3-year LLB or a 5-year integrated Degree. Both these are Bachelor’s degrees. But a 3-year degree is only for those who already have an undergraduate degree. If you are in 10+2, you can apply for a 5-year integrated degree. In the 5-year pattern, after completing some specified courses, you will be awarded a BA or BSc Degree at the end of 3 years. You will get an LLB Degree only after completing all the five years of the course.

Rosey’s Answer

Hello Jenifer, First, graduate college with a bachelors degree in any field, try your hardest to get good grades. Second, take the LSAT Exam lsac.org. Third, apply to law schools of your choice. Fourth, graduate law school and take the bar exam in the state you plan to practice law. Fifth, pass the bar exam and become a lawyer. Along the way, try to get mentors and build relationships in the legal field so that you get letters of recommendation, you will need those when you apply to law school. It's best if you stay away from any criminal offenses as this is not helpful but not impossible. Stay passionate and motivated about the field. When you embark on the journey, there might be trying moments, but don't give up - its all worth it at the end, you CAN DO IT! Good luck!

Mariana’s Answer

Hello Jenifer A,

It depends the country, usually in US, most states and jurisdictions require lawyers to complete a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). ABA accreditation signifies that the law school—particularly its curricula and faculty—meets certain standards. A bachelor’s degree is required for entry into most law schools, and courses in English, public speaking, government, history, economics, and mathematics are useful.

Almost all law schools, particularly those approved by the ABA, require applicants to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). This test measures applicants’ aptitude for the study of law.

On the other hand, in México you only need to pass a test called CENEVAL which is similar to he LSAT, in some schools they also asked you to present a thesis and an oral exam related to that, after this you receive your degree as lawyer and then you have options to do a master's or doctorate.

Hope this could help you to understand better.

Mariana

Abhilash’s Answer

Step 1: There is no specific stream required to pursue a degree in law, and students from all streams can go for this career. Generally, students who want to pursue law right after their 12th take up Humanities or Commerce streams. Some of the popular subjects for students aspiring for Law are Political Science, Legal Studies, Economics, History and Psychology. These subjects are recommended because they help form a base for the subjects taught in Law schools and some of these are beneficial in providing an insight to school students about the legal system of our country.

Step 2:The next step in your journey to becoming a lawyer is to pursue a graduate degree in LAw (L.L.B). You can pursue this either right after class 12th or after your graduation in any other subject.

Shraddha’s Answer

The below answer is from the Indian colleges perspective.

Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from an institute recognized by the Bar Council of India is the minimum qualification required to become (or practice as a ) Lawyer in India. LL.B. course can be pursued in two different ways-

Integrated Law course (5 years long course, can be pursued right after 12th standard)
Bachelor of Law- LL.B. (3 years long, can be pursued after completing graduation)

Integrated law course can be pursued right after completing 12th standard from a recognized board (any stream- Science, Commerce or Arts). It is a dual degree program. Course duration is 5 years. Course covers two degrees. Examples include- B.A. + LL.B., B.Com + LL.B., B.Sc. + LL.B. etc.

Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) is the traditional law course. It can be pursued only after completing graduation (3 or 4 years long course) from a recognized University/Institute. Course duration is 3 years.
