Hello Daphne
To become a Neurosurgeon is a very good ambition and I will be so glad if you do not give up on your dream.
Firstly, you need to understand that Neurosurgeon is an area of specialty in medicine which means you must have studied medicine first then further to specialize as a Neurosurgeon.
Furthermore, your knowledge in basic science courses will help you in achieving your goals, presently you must be shape and focused in your high school and have a interest in subjects like Biology, physics and Chemistry, these subjects are the core and you must understand that when the foundation is well built then, the future is going to be bright,
Also, you must have interest and be willing to pass well in your others classes and have a good grades in them all, subjects like Mathematics and computer science will also be and addition, try to learn some coding and get to get you best of all opportunities around you.
Please never give up on your dreams, study hard and I wish you all the best.

If your ultimate goal is to become a neurosurgeon, then you will need to complete and obtain your bachelor and medical degrees. In college, to apply for medical school, there are specific prereqs you must take in order to be considered, such as bio, gen chem, ochem, biochem, physics, english, and I believe some others as well. While it is nice to be major in something bio and chem related (that way, you do not have to take additional classes to fulfill the med school requirements), you should major in something you are passionate in! Medical schools prefer well-rounded applicants, so if there is something you love outside of STEM, then go for it! I think it's nice to take physiology and anatomy curses in college since those subjects are essentially the backbone of medicine. They are quite complicated and hefty subjects, so if you're really interested in medicine, I recommend those 2 classes the most (although they are not prerequisites for med school i believe)

Hi Daphne,
What an amazing choice. I work with Neurosurgeons in a Medical School. Honestly I would say just make good grades in High School if they offer advanced science classes take those. When you graduate from High School and start college major in Science like a Bio/Chem degree. Then you would apply to med school and then after med school you apply for Neurosurgery Residency which is the longest Residency out of all surgeons at 7-8 years long. It’s definitely possible but requires a large amount of dedication and determination. Good luck in your future.
