Jarrel’s Answer

A computer service technician's day-to-day work consists of answering service tickets for various hardware/software issues for the business or establishment you are working for. Depending on the team and work environment you can pretty much organize the tickets and your schedule for how you see fit for the day. Usually, the end of your will be documenting what you did or what you plan to do with your unfinished tickets.

In more mid/senior roles you'll usually be apart of more meetings where you are discussing new software/hardware implementations talking with departments or customers on their specific needs and create timeline proposals for the work

Nicolas (Nico)’s Answer

A Computer Service Technician is going to vary heavily from company to company, but wherever you apply, you'll most likely use a ticketing system to track progress and understand what tools you'll need for a given job. Expect to be on site servicing devices either in an office setting, or some companies may have you travel to customer's locations to perform repairs. (That would be more of a mobile repair technician role). Prior to applying for a job, check the job description and depending on the state check the pay details and make sure it is something you're interested in before applying.

Robert’s Answer

The day-to-day for a Computer Services Technician can be very dynamic. The role is typically tied to an organization's Service Desk or Help Desk function. In most cases, the day is based on the support tickets that have been logged, and you will be working with users and stakeholders to help solve computer issues.

The range of issues can vary, but the role can be very rewarding as you help people solve problems. The role will also expose you to many different issues, which can help you learn and grow your skills.

This is typically great for launching a larger career in IT and can help you understand what you really want to do long-term.

Joshua’s Answer

Computer Service techs are the "hands" of an IT department. They usually have knowledge of various operating systems (OS) and hardware (Servers/PCs/Laptops/Tabelets/Audio-Visual/Mobile Devices/etc). Their primary roles will revolve around keeping Local Area Networks (LAN) healthy, including any connected elements.
Some work may be applying software patches remotely, upgrading the RAM in someones laptop, changing a hard drive in a drive array (RAID), or troubleshooting connectivity issues related to hardware or software. These technicians should be equally comfortable doing "keyboard work" as well as physical work (using an array of hand tools Ex: screwdrivers, etc).
Computer Service Technicians should have soft skills like critical thinking (Ability to troubleshoot a problem logically from one end to the other), attention to detail (able to pick up on little differences or settings), ability to communicate clearly (whether internal or external customer service).
