It's wonderful that your high school offers courses in psychology. My high school didn't offer it. What you need to remember is that there is a lot to study about human behavior and it probably never ends. But in high school, if you already have your textbook, or when you get it, the index will give you an idea of the various and numerous aspects that can be studied.

Remember that you will have other classes that will also help you in college with psychology. English is very important as you will have to write a lot of papers in college as well as reports. You'll start to learn how to talk about psychology. There are a lot of things you would learn in Biology that will benefit your study of psychology. I advise taking Biology in high school. At some point, if it is offered at your high school, see about taking an advanced placement psychology class.

There is no one best thing to remember, rather remember it all. You may want to volunteer as a peer counselor to get hands on experience. This will greatly help you along with lots of reading about the various types of human behavior and the noted psychologists and most importantly, their theories. Join a psychology club as soon as you can in high school. Book knowledge and real experience will be the thing that sets a strong foundation for you once you get to college.

Do remember to be consistent in your pursuit, ask questions and try to meet other students that have a serious interest in becoming a psychologist too.

I hope that this has helped and wish you all the best in high school !

Back in my day, I didn't realize there was a difference between psychology, therapy, and psychiatry. My advice? Figure out what aspect of psychology interests you most – whether it's understanding the mind, helping people heal, or providing medical support. Narrowing it down will help you make a decision that suits your passion and goals. From what I understand, psychology is about understanding human behavior and the mind. In high school, you might not delve too deep into it, but keep your curiosity alive. By the way, my close friend's a psychiatrist – they help with mental health through medical treatments, while psychology focuses on understanding thoughts and behavior. Just know there's also therapy, which is about helping people cope and heal. Keep exploring and learning, and you'll find your path!
