Hello, Abreonna !

I am very impressed with your wonderful choice of academic and career plans. I also want to applaud you for graduating early and getting an early start which shall surely be to your benefit.

To begin with, there are very many colleges that offer a psychology major, so you shouldn't have any issues with finding one and enrolling. Some of the colleges that you can look into would be Texas A & M, University of Texas in Auston, Rice University in Houston, Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian University, University of Houston, Baylor University in Waco, University of North Texas in Denton and Texas State University in San Marcos. Also consider community colleges as well if you'd like to get your Associates degree first and than attend a university to continue for your Bachelors degree.

With the remaining time that you have in high school either take a psychology class if you aren't in one already assuming that you are not early graduating this year. If there's no time to start a new class due to when you're graduating, start reading some books to prepare you for college. Some ideas for these would be introduction to psychology, and any books that offer chapters on sensation and perception, memory, emotion and motivation, personality, social psychology and psychological disorders. It would be good to have some information like this before college.

After you decide which colleges you want to apply to, read from their websites what the admissions procedures require and than prepare your applications. I wouldn't be too concerned, many schools will be inviting to you. Now, you did say you wanted to go to a "good" school and since I don't know what that means to you, I will just advise that with much reading and comparing and exploring, you will find a school that will be a good fit for you personally and for your future plans. Colleges usually like to see that students have a good GPA, did well on the SAT and have been active with things connected to their major during their high school years.

I hope that this has been a help in your current short term goals for your career interest and thoughts about college. I wish you well during your journey !

Hello Abreonna!

Overview of the Process to Get into a Good College for Psychology

To get into a good college for psychology, it is essential to follow a strategic plan that includes excelling academically, gaining relevant experiences, and preparing a strong college application. The following paragraphs will discuss the steps to achieve this goal.

Academic Excellence

Academic excellence plays a significant role in college admissions, especially in competitive programs like psychology. Students should aim to maintain a high GPA, excel in relevant courses such as biology, chemistry, and mathematics, and participate in extracurricular activities that showcase their interests and skills.

Standardized Tests

Preparing for standardized tests like the SAT or ACT is crucial, as many colleges consider these scores in their admissions decisions. Students should practice regularly, seek test prep resources, and consider taking the tests multiple times to improve their scores.

Relevant Experiences

Gaining relevant experiences in the field of psychology can significantly strengthen a college application. Students can participate in internships, job shadowing, or volunteer work in mental health facilities, hospitals, or research labs. These experiences not only provide valuable insight into the profession but also help students build a strong personal statement or essay for college applications.

Strong College Application

A well-rounded college application should include a personal statement or essay that highlights the student’s passion for psychology, extracurricular activities that showcase their skills and interests, and strong letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors in the field.

Do you not forget to look at my autobiography which will have the name about James Constantine at the top of it. If you were low in the nutrients that are needed for academic study repletion of those nutrients will mean a quantum leap in academic performance. What you will observe is that you do more than twice the work in half the time good luck with that thank you james.

Hi Abreonna,
It's so great you want to study psychology! I would recommend taking the science related courses that your school offers. This will help showcase to colleges your academic interest and how you've already started to take steps to move toward those goals. If available to you, see if you can take some intro level psychology classes at a local community college! This can help give you a better idea of the field as well as give you credits that might be useful when you transfer to your final college!
