How can I promote my Blog/Website?

I'm creating a blog/website that spreads awareness to Mental health and provides the resources needed to contact anyone if you need help. I haven't finished it yet, but I've been pretty worried that no one will be able to see it and my work will go to waste. I've been wondering, how can I promote it when I finish?

Use the power of influencers to amplify your content. Start by identifying some influencers with strong followings on instagram or other social platforms that you admire. To keep yourself focused, I'd recommend picking 4 platforms (maybe, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn) and finding 10 'top voices' in your field or related fields. Create a social profile that's in the same look and feel of each other and your blog and spend around a month engaging with their content. Comment on their posts, reply to their commenters, and generally be a helpful, amplifying presence.

In this same time, keep working on your blog and posting updates to your profile.

At the end of this month, evaluate your network and see if you've built bonds with any of the content creators or their following. Take the top 25% of connections you've created and reach out to them individually to ask for their advice on your content. Ask specific questions and specify why you're asking for their feedback.

Implement their feedback and continue to refine your blog and building your connections and network. Evaluate the overlap or connection points between your blog and the content on the social profiles of your connections. Craft a post that you think could resonate on one of your connection's sites - and reach out and ask if they'd be willing to let you guest author it on their site OR post / amplify your blog post.

This order is important because you've:

1. Intentionally built a community
2. Offered value to them first
3. Sought out their opinions & guidance
4. THEN asked for a favor

Best of luck!

This is the $64,000 question: How to develop a following.
It takes time (sometimes luck) but there are ways to hasten your outreach along:
Promote on pages/sites you already participate in.
Comment on other people's work online so they might follow you and discover your blog.
Put your blog in your email signature, etc.
Make sure to be helpful and accurate. Accuracy is key. All work of such nature is built on trust.
Come to your work with a unique perspective. Make it more than just information but information for...you define.
Be consistent with your voice and tone.
Join organizations that will help you develop material and an audience.
Follow others who do the same type of work and research.
Stay current and smart in your field.
Mention and tag others when appropriate.
Do research on keywords, trends, etc.

4. Utilize email marketing to promote your blog and website. Build an email list of subscribers who are interested in your content and send them regular updates with links to your latest posts.

5. Create visually appealing graphics and images to accompany your blog posts and share them on platforms like Pinterest and other visual social media platforms.

6. Join online forums and communities related to your niche and actively participate in discussions. Share links to your blog posts when relevant and provide valuable insights to establish yourself as an authority in your field.

7. Consider investing in paid advertising on platforms like Google Ads or Facebook Ads to drive traffic to your website and attract new visitors.

8. Collaborate with influencers in your niche to promote your content to their followers. This can help increase your reach and credibility among your target audience.

Rachel’s Answer

This is great, Veronica! I'd consider setting two goals for yourself -- one focused on what you want for YOURSELF, regardless of who else sees it, and another for what you want OTHERS to get from it. There's a lot of great mental health organizations out there that are active on social media and frequently solicit stories from people on their own mental health journeys. I'd follow organizations like The Trevor Project, Mental Health America, Active Minds, American Psychological Association. Participate in their social media conversations and link out to your blog and posts. Consider getting involved with them in other ways too as a way to expand your platform!
