Just trying to get some money to help pay for college :)

I'm currently a senior in high school, and while my dream is to become a published writer, I know that isn't a very sustainable career right out of the gate. What options do I have to get a job within the English world that will give me connections or experience to help publish my work later on?

I am in 12th grade, I am highly interested in communications and plan to major in communications at Elon University this fall. I enjoy event planning and have expereince with it, which is what sparked my interest in communications.

I am a Junior, I want to be a writer, and I am wondering what subjects I could take in school/college that could help me improve on my writing skills.
